In this important brief and succinct study, Dermot O’Callaghan and Dr Peter May raise disturbing aspects of the submission to the UK Parlaiament and Church of England by Royal College of Psychiatrists. The college claimed, at the time, that sexual orientation is genetic. Since time of publication, the Royal College has adapted its position statement (2014) on sexual orientation, acknolwedging “post-natal” contributions to this area of experieince. It now recognises sexual fluidity with regard to sexual preferences, and concedes that change is possible – although it rejects the idea that it is changeable, through therapeutic intervention
