Despite his loss of liberty, and opposition from fellow-workers, the letter radiates joy – joy that Christ was proclaimed, joy in fellowship with the Philippian Christians, and above all joy in Jesus himself.

Author

Alec Motyer (1924–2016) was Vice-Principal of Clifton Theological College and vicar of St. Luke’s, Hampstead, and Christ Church, Westbourne, before becoming Principal of Trinity College, Bristol. He was a well-known conference and convention speaker, and the author of The Prophecy of Isaiah as well as other titles in The Bible Speaks Today series.
