Description
The Gospel Standard (begun by William Gadsby in 1835) is believed to be the oldest monthly magazine still published in England. One of its best known editors was J.C. Philpot.
Soon after its commencement, a body of Strict Baptist churches began to gather around the Gospel Standard and became known as the “Gospel Standard Strict Baptists.”
There are about 150 Gospel Standard Strict Baptist churches.
